The Beach!!

My family went to the beach few weeks ago.... oh yeah! :D We had the camera there and my dad was taking alot of really nice pictures. :) It was not really cold though, but it was a little windy. A few days ago me and my sister, Janai, went to a lovely park to take her Senior pictures! I was the photographer... because I love taking pictures! :D We took 4 hours worth of photo's.... and we did end up getting a few good one's! Here are a few of the best one's:

Virgies Tea Party

My cousin, Virgina, had a tea party a few days ago in honor of her birthday. I had alot of fun being there! There was alot of food also, and it was all so good! A few of the games we played were: Hot Potato, Mother May I and Red Light-Green Light. We also decorated some boxes with flowers, jewelry and pearls to keep as "memory boxes". And so I wanted to share a few pictures of the fun with you... :)

A few day's ago me and my family went to go see the Disney movie "Tangled". It was actually not that bad! It had alot of funny parts in it. . . and some sad parts as well. I really enjoyed it, so I wanted to share a few of my favorite scenes from the movie with you...

A few days ago we went to the Brookshire's (Emily Rose and Breezy Tulip's) house where we met Sara Mae. All of the ladies in this picture write for Raising Homemakers (including my mom!). =)

Today is my moms birthday, she is 39 years old! In case you didn't know my mom has a blog called A Wise Woman Builds Her Home where she encourages woman in many ways! She is also a writer for Ladies Against Feminism (LAF) and Raising Homemakers.

She is a very loving, caring and generous mom to me and my siblings. I hope she will have very long time down here with us!

Dinorita's Birthday Tea Party!

A few days ago our good friend, Dinorita Ruiz, had her 15th birthday! To celebrate it she had a tea party and after that a BBQ! While we were having tea and cookies, her mom spoke to her about becoming a good godly woman, many of their friends showed up to help them celebrate!!

My dad took me (Naomi) and my two sisters, Janai and Joy to a Father/Daughter dinner at Dinolfos Banquet Hall. There was alot of people there, around 200 or more! There was a teaching done by Norm Wakefield and plenty of games, dancing, eating and talking.

The Doll

My sister Janai received this story in an email and I was really touched by it. . .So I thought you would enjoy reading it, too--

I was walking around in a Wal Mart store, when I saw a cashier

hand this little boy some money back.

The boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old..

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have

enough money to buy this doll..'

Then the little boy turned to the

old woman next to him: ''Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?''

The old lady replied:'You know that you don't have enough money to

buy this doll, my dear.''

Then she asked him to stay there

for just 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly..

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand..

Finally, I walked toward him and

I asked him who he wished to give this doll to.

It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.'

I replied to him that maybe Santa

Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.

But he replied to me sadly.

'No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is

now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can

give it to my sister when she goes there.'

His eyes were so sad while saying

this.. 'My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says

that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought

that she could take the doll with her to give it to my

sister.''

My heart nearly stopped..

The little boy looked up at me

and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I

need her to wait until I come back

from the mall.'

Then he showed me a very nice

photo of himself. He was laughing.. He then told me 'I

want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't

forget me.'

'I love my mommy and I wish

she didn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has

to go to be with my little sister.'

Then he looked again at the

doll with sad eyes, very quietly.

I quickly reached for my wallet

and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check again, just in

Case you do have enough money for the doll!''

OK' he said, 'I hope I do

have enough.' I added some of my money to his without

him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for

the doll and even some spare money..

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added,

'I asked last night

before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough

money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my

sister. He heard me!''

'I also wanted to have enough

money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't

dare to ask God for too much.. But He gave me enough to buy

the doll and a white rose.''

'My mommy loves white roses.'

A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket.

I finished my shopping in a

totally different state of mind from when I started.

I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news

paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a

truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl.

The little girl died right away,

and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had

to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining

machine, because the young woman would not be able to

recover from the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter

with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young

woman had passed away.

I couldn't stop myself as I

bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home

where the body of the young woman was for people to see and

make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin,

holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of

the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed,

feeling that my life had been changed for ever... The love

that the little boy had for his

mother and his sister is

still, to this day, hard to imagine.

And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

Now you have 2 choices:

1) Send this message to others,

or

2) Ignore it as if it never

touched your heart.

New Hope Church

My sister, Janai, did this post of this church that we like alot in Hawaii and I wanted you to read about it too!

In the great and beautiful state of Hawaii, there's a church called New Hope. They have VERY good teaching, awesome pastors (because of their wisdom, humor, and "down-to-earth" touch), and heart-felt worship (reminds me of my old church in Chicago)!

Sometimes on Sundays I'll watch one of their three live services online and during the week I'm able to download their services to my iPod (through iTunes). And just by listening to them, I have learned so much and actually many of my posts on this blog are inspired by things I've learned from them.

Before Christmas, my cousins, Sara and Virginia Dyckman (and their cousin, Desirae), were in a play of the "excerpts of the Nutcracker"! There were many types of dances there, such as- jazz, hip-hop, tap, and ballet.

We had our play that we've been working on all summer! It was a smashing success! ;) We had close to a hundred people show up for it and it was only a library play! And. . . it showed up in the local newspaper!! I had a great time and learned many things about acting!

Baking Corner: Quick Cinnamon Rolls

This is our very first video so there are some mistakes in it! But I'm still very excited!!

Here is the recipe from There's No Place Like Home:

I simply took a double batch of biscuit dough and rolled it into a large flat rectangle, spread it with softened butter, sprinkled it heavily with brown sugar and cinnamon, before rolling it up into a log and slicing it in half-inch slices (just like cinnamon rolls) to bake in a greased pan. The whole process took less than half an hour, and they were perfect for a cold wet work day.

These would also take kindly to the addition of raisins, dried cherries, chopped dried apricots, walnuts, or pecans, I think. Or all of the above. And in case you don't have a good biscuit recipe, here's the one I use from the back of the baking powder can:

*Dependable Biscuits*

Mix:

2 1/4 c. white flour
1 T. baking powder
1/2 t. salt

Fluff together with pastry blender. Then cut in:

1/2 c. shortening

Pour:

1 .c milk (can use rice or soy to keep dairy-free)

over mixture. With hands or rubber spatula, gently mix until it holds together as a dough. I never roll mine out, just grab off chunks and roughly shape into biscuit shapes by hand. Lay on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 450 for about 10 minutes.

On February 6th, 2009, Franklin Graham spoke at Moody Church for Founders Week and I went to go see him!! I went along with my dad, grandma, three siblings, and four cousins! It was a very neat experience to be able to see the son of Billy Graham! I'm very grateful I had the opportunity!

Yes, this is now Naomi's blog, but No, I'm not Naomi. I'm Janai's Dad sneaking in as a guest contributer to let you all know that my Janai is turning 16 on Saturday, November 15th, 2008!

Wow, 16, it seems like just yesterday she was small enough to carry, fit in a stroller, and needed her little pink doll to stop crying...now she needs money to stop crying! :D

Honestly, Janai Marie is the sweetest 16 year old I know. She is so dependable and talented, I can't believe she's mine! :0

Please pray for my Grandma Sara! She's been having problems with her heart and has been going in the hospital, frequently! She just went in last night again with her heart racing, tomorrow she's going to get shocked and Monday she's going to have surgery! Which is alot for a women in her age! Remnants of Ike

(This is from my mom's blog. I wanted to show you how much water we had here!)

I know this is a little late getting this up (remember I have eight children!) but I wanted to share how the front of our home looked two weekends ago when we were supposed to receive the remnants of hurricane Ike----a few cities in our area were declared disaster areas because of the overwhelming amount of water they received. We were lucky not to get any water in our home.

In the front of our home there is an intersection, it was filled to capacity from an overflowing ditch. Also there is a man-made lake across the street stocked with fish that spilled onto the road. Cars were dying out everywhere.

Above is Ravi showing you were the street once was. Thank God our home is on a slope!

Here's the view from inside. Isn't it lovely? The water rose even higher than what you see here. That whole area in front is usually all grass, that day we could have swam across it!

Cars did their best to get by but some were no match for the water.

Too bad Nana isn't here, she'd probably like to go fishing right about now. (See the cops in the background trying to block oncoming cars?)

When a poor soul would die out from the flood waters, my husband Steve jumped in the van and ran to the rescue (and he loved every minute---he is really my hero!). He helped push alot of people out of the water like this guy above who had to wait until his car dried out to start it again. Steve also helped people well into the night. (Is there any wonder why I am enamored with him?)

We were very fortunate, however, we do have family in Galveston, Texas who were not as lucky. Please pray for our family who are trying to rebuild their lives and all the others there as well.

Joshua (4 yrs old) is always saying little things that are cute or funny, so I wanted to post some so you could read them. (Note he says "Now" in the beginning of almost every sentence!)

The other day Naomi and Josh were talking outside and then she asked him what he wished he could be? She started naming different things such as a pastor, a bug, a chair, and other things. When she finished he said, "Now, you just forgot a millipede!" and of course, that's what he wanted to be! =)

Josh was talking to my dad and out of the blue he said, "When I grow older, I want to be a Bible-doughnut Boy!"! (I think he wanted the best of both worlds!)

Once Nomi was in the bath-room and Josh knocked and she answered "Who is it?" and he said "Now, I just saw that it was me!".

When the Olympics were going on he wanted to watch it and asked my mom, "Now, me just want to watch a 'limpics!"

And finally, last week our neighbors invited us to pick their concord grapes and we did. That night Joshy was praying and said "Please tell Mr. Lamb to tell us to pick his grapes again!"

Acts 29. . .

Recently, we (the siblings) gave money to help support ministry's and organizations. I gave to "Voice of the Martyrs", Naomi gave to "Above Rubies", Stephen gave to "Walk in the Word", and Ravi gave to "Acts 29"! Right now, I want to talk about Ravi, his 5 dollars, and "Acts 29".

The other day (after we sent the money), Ravi received a letter from 'Acts 29' that said they started a fund called "Ravi's Matching Fund"!!

The vice president, Scott Thomas (who is very busy!), even went to write about Ravi on his own blog! Ravi's money went to help plant a church in Georgia! Ravi is helping to change the world!

For those of you who don't know, "Acts 29" is a church planting network. They have planted over 100 churches in America and are still going strongly! And my whole family loves what they're doing!

This time I'm not posting any pictures! Anyway, today at our home we had a garage sale and I think we did pretty good! (money wise!) One of the people that came was an old woman named "Jackie" and after she bought her stuff, she asked if we read the Bible and if we were Christians? and my mom said yes that we were Christians and read the Bible, then she was so happy, she gave us all hugs (complete stranger!), and said she loved us! (I thought that was neat! I don't know why though!)

I was thinking about starting a new blog for teens (everyone but, teenagers primarily) called something like "Impact Teens". What do you think? Can anyone give me ideas?
